SIMPLE 1000 X 750
Acrylic on canvas. Mounted in a floating frame sourced from sustainable forest timbers.
A low midcentury fibro shack with sun-bleached fibro panels. Simple, modest lines show function over ornament—shaped by coastal wind and salt. Mismatched windows, flaking paint, patched sheets fluttering like memories.
Inside: a compact plan — narrow bench, tin sink, a worn table where hands and stories gather. Light strips through cladding gaps across scuffed boards and faded linoleum. Air smells of lemon soap, drying herbs and sea-tang.
Garden is practical: potted herbs, a sagging clothesline, a rusted wheelbarrow. Small objects gain meaning: a chipped enamel mug, a sun-faded apron, a jar of spare screws. Use outweighs display.
There’s quiet dignity and resilient practicality. Weathered surfaces record seasons; repairs are improvised and exacting. The shack is shelter and archive—a compact home of work, weather and ritual.
